Quick post on how I went by cleaning my interior after it being stood in a damp/humid area for a long time.

Tools needed:

- Man Power
- Bacon or Sausage sandwich, or both?
- Vaccum Cleaner
- T45 Socket & matching rachet (to remove front seats)
- 8mm spanner or socket (to remove rear seats and centre arm rest)
- Screwdriver

Cleaning Products:

- Glade Carpet Powder
- AutoGlym Balm
- AutoGlym Leather Cleaner
- Bowl of Hot Water

Here are some initial pictures of the interior,;

Interior seats removed:

Brought the interior inside the house and got the vacuum on it, amazing how much came off it!

The carpet looked good to go so I brought some of this stuff to freshen it up a bit.

Image

Sprinkle the powder on and leave it a few minutes (I left it an hour) then get the vacuum on it again which was the final stage, smells fantastic now!

Before the clean:

After the clean:

Then onto the seats!

Rears first, before the clean:

Nice hot clean water:

After the wipe down (look how dirty the water is!!)

Then popped over to Halfords and brought some AutoGlym leather treatment.

Image

The cleaner contains specialised cleaning and deodoring agents to safetly clean and freshen the leather up, then the Care Balm is like a moisturiser and protects the leather. Check the results :mrcool:

Leather cleaner applied:

Then onto the Care Balm;

Now same process with the front seats:

Care Balm:

Then it was time to re-fit the carpet:

By this time, the freshness from the car was attracting the Bee's :lol:

Gave the door cards and steering wheel a good clean and then started to refit all the seats;

Really happy with it now, smells much better and looks much better.

Great post James.

Something else that works really well on carpets, and cloth covered seats is an electric carpet cleaner, using the small detail attachment brings no end of dirt out.

Never mind the hairdryer David. :lol:

An electric razor works great at removing bobbles of Alcantara, and cloth seats.

Good work :thumbup:

My own preference would be for LTT Auto Ultra Foam cleaner for leather, by far the easiest and best performing cleaner I've ever used. Expensive, but worth it.

Also, if you get a chance to use a carpet extractor like a rug doctor, try it out - you will be amazed at the amount of dirt you can get out of even a clean looking interior.

I tried this when i first got my seats but didn't wash them first, will have to re-try and see what comes out this time.

Thanks for the comments,

Yeah there are many other products available.

Hot water clean is a must before anything else.
