We have been contacted by Caterpillar for infringement of EPC useage rights.

Whilst this, along with RAVE (also flagged up as owned by Omitec Ltd) is discussed and verified, I am asking no one to post in here.

If they do, I will have no choice but to take it offline whilst we sort out what we are going to do.

Never rains, but it pours.

Geraint.

The forum did not post or host it.

Members did. We are not responsible for their actions, but we can be expected to remove all links and or adverts pertaining to it.

Quite why Rovertech has been targeted is unclear, since other forums host it and ebay is rife with sellers profiteering.
I don't personally understand the big deal. By us having access to it, we can reduce time's for ordering parts as we supply direct part numbers.

However, if the legal owners want it removed, we may just have to do as requested.

Shame really as I'm sure were something agreed they could make extra business out of the site. Some sort of pick your part from RT and order it.

Believe me if he did have anything to do with RT myself and Neil would no longer be members.

So what is going on with this now, are we not aloud to get EPC/Rave off of here now.

I know its easy enough to get if you know the right person, but does this mean newbies can't get it?

What do you mean?

The original issue was people posting links to copyrighted material. I can't see how simply discussing RAVE or the EPC would be a problem.

RAVE is also now being hosted for public download on another website, so it looks like the situation regarding the copyright has changed.

To be fair there are also other ways to look at an electronic parts catalogue if you don't need the workshop manual guides, such as rimmers, where you can usually work out how something goes together.
