THE 7TH MEETING OF 2012
THE 35th TEESSIDE MEETING 22-07-2012

Welcome

We are MG-ROVER - TEESSIDE, we organise the North East
Monthly Meet which is now called 'The TEESSIDE MEET'.

A little about us, the original Meet was set-up by Adam-MGTF, after
visiting the MERSEYSIDE Meet and seeing how popular it was he
decided it would be great to get a Meet going in his native area of Teesside and getting all the local and surrounding .org MG-ROVER owners together for there own Meet. He did a fantastic job getting
it off the ground, it started with small numbers but now has a great
following of local .org and non .org owners.

Due to work and University commitments Adam-MGTF handed over
the reigns for the Meets to sav-mg. To help get things going he
enlisted the help of the MERSEYSIDE and LONDON Meet Organiser
ROVER-25X (AKA - CHARLZY) to start the Meets afresh and have a
general re-branding to give us our own identity and logo just like the
MERSEYSIDE and LONDON Meets, we also now have a facebook
Group so we can all keep up to date with all the Meet dates and any
other events that are organised such as Track Days, DYNO/Rolling
Road Days and Runs.

ABOUT THE MEET

We are still searching for a Primary Meet location, this may take a
few months and the Meet being held in a different location for a
while but the hope is to have a perminant Meet location just like
the MERSEYSIDE MEET's primary locaton, The GAME BIRD.

This month we are having the Meet at NAVIGATION WAY ,TEES BARRAGE
as this thought to more picturesque for meeting photos
link is below in thread

The general plan for the Meets is to arrive at the designated
location for the time listed on this topic which is early in the
afternoon so that we can make a day of it and use the available daylight.

The Meet Rep will try to arrive first and find the most empty spaces
so we can all park together and weather permiting have a good chin
wag and chat about each others cars and take some pics, we usually
stay outside to greet anyone who has yet to arrive and we will not be hard to find all parked together, plus the Meet Rep owns a skoda octavia (08) so keep an eye out for it.

We shall always have the Meets at a Pub Resturants so that we can
all enjoy the food and plus if the Weather takes a turn for the worst
or if its the Winter Months there is always somewhere warm to sit,
plus the fact that we have access to Toilet facillities helps.

These Meets are Family Friendly and we make Spouses and
Girlfriends very welcome, we will do our best to cater for Members
with Children and try to make sure all the Locations have Baby
changing facilities.

There are quite a few .org Members in the TEESSIDE and surrounding
areas but if you know any other Members on .org who are unaware
of the Meet or if you have Friends or Family who own an MG-ROVER
then get them down to enjoy the company of like minded owners.

We have adopted the basic rules for the New Meet that are used by
the MERSEYSIDE and LONDON Meets this is to make sure we represent
MG-ROVER.org and MG-ROVER - TEESSIDE in a good manner.

1. NO ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOR
2. NO WHEEL SPINS
3. NO BURN-OUTS
4. NO DOHNUTS
5. NO DANGEROUS MANUVERS (Handbrake turns etc)
6. NO BLASTING SOUND SYSTEMS
7. DO DRINK RESPONSIBLY

ANY BREACH THESE RULES AND YOU WILL BE BANNED
FROM ATTENDING FUTURE MEETS AND YOU WILL BE
REPORTED TO ADMIN ON HERE.

Here's a few thoughts of mine.

1. The OP above seems to be a quick cold 'log in, bang it up, log out' copy and paste from every other previous Tees Barrage meet.
2. There isn't any personal 'feel' to it
3. It seems there has been no attention paid to the discussions on the forum about a change of location (to Dalton Park) to energise this meet.

Personally, I don't think it's a surprise that there have been no replies in the 8 days since to OP went up. Whenever I organise meets on other forums, I will choose a date/location that suits others after a bit of discussion, then keep in touch with all the locals via pm to remind them at regular intervals in the lead-up to it. Just keeps that personal feel to it.

The last thing I want to do is ruffle any feathers here, or get off on the wrong foot with anybody, as I am fully aware that I am a relative newbie here, having just returned to coupe ownership after about 10 years. There has been talk about how numbers are down at this meet, so I've risked annoying a few people as I feel like maybe something had to be said. Maybe a fresh pair of eyes is a good thing.

It's just a few thoughts of an Owners Club regular (and a co-owner/staff of one), with over 10,000 posts on non-Rover forums. This is a great club, I can see that. I haven't even been to one of these meets yet (hopefully that will change soon), but going on feedback from other members in other threads, I think it's obvious something has to be changed a little.

All thoughts welcomed, good or bad.

I'm not really understanding the vibe here guys.

I had hoped my post above would get some discussion going, but there's been zippo reaction in 3 days.

This meet is supposed to be happening a week on Sunday, but the organiser hasn't logged on since the 4th of the month. I'm not having a personal dig here. Maybe sav-mg is snowed under with work, or having a tough time in his personal life. Maybe he is more dedicated time-wise to other forums. I understand that. But take up from this forum for this meet is suffering, and lack of input from the organiser can't be helping that.

Can I ask, does this meet attract attendees from other forums, not just RT.net? .org maybe? Is there more interest and discussion about it over there?

I hope you guys understand I haven't voiced these opinions to rub anyone up the wrong way. There's nothing better than to pop down to a well attended local meet and craik on with other like minded owners. I've been attending and organising meets both local and national for years. I'd love to attend my first Rover meet since getting back into coupe ownership, but even down to Dalton Park would be a waste of petrol money (which I can't throw away these days!) if no-one is going to turn up.

Just want to get some opinions guys.

I remember when the meets first started happening their was a few.of us.and a.few.from other fourms, now the last few ive been to have only really been off this fourm. But its always the same people give or take the same place, the people who do attend are spot on blokes to talk to but for me especially atm for me i carnt justify the money to pop down due to buying my house and with both my cars needing tax at the end of this month then one need insurance it couldnt of came at a worse time....

Ok sorry for the delay in seeing this thread being put up. I was told by Sav by text the other day but this is the first time I've had chance to get online.

Right let me clear this up.

Sav would have asked me to put the details up for the meet seeing as I'm one of the contacts for it. Sav has got a lot on his plate and although he's not a Rover/MG owner anymore he still likes to organize the meet. Only recently have I got involved with the actual posting and helping out when Sav has not been able to attend.

Sav started off by posting this on the MG-Rover.org forum but after I made him aware of that there were members on here that might be interested I got him to add the thread on here to try and get some more numbers. He only posts up the thread on here as everytime I've tried using his template it's gone wrong. If there are any questions then contact me on here as I can relay any messages onto him or make a decision after discussing it with Sav and other members.

As for the Dalton Park location discussion we need people to turn up to the Teesside meet so we can discuss it. And I'm not just talking about me and Sav turning up along with GBS100 and Pucc. I'd like to have everyones input before a decision is made.

And as for this meet coming up I'm not sure as yet due to family issues and also just starting at a job recently and with not knowing whether or not I'm needed I won't be able to get a decision until the Friday before the meets date.

As there's still zero names on the list, and seemingly zero interest, I won't be going. If the take-up was better I'd be there for sure, but it's a long way to go down to Teesside if it turns out to be a washout!

Sorry.

Thanks to everyone that turned up today. Was good to meet some new faces. Sav has said he'd post some pics up later on when he gets sorted. Was a good show at Shildon. We must do it again next year.
