THE 9TH MEETING OF 2012
THE 37TH TEESSIDE MEETING 28-10-2012

Welcome

We are MG-ROVER - TEESSIDE, we organise the North East
Monthly Meet which is now called 'The TEESSIDE MEET'.

A little about us, the original Meet was set-up by Adam-MGTF, after
visiting the MERSEYSIDE Meet and seeing how popular it was he
decided it would be great to get a Meet going in his native area of Teesside and getting all the local and surrounding .org MG-ROVER owners together for there own Meet. He did a fantastic job getting
it off the ground, it started with small numbers but now has a great
following of local .org and non .org owners.

Due to work and University commitments Adam-MGTF handed over
the reigns for the Meets to sav-mg. To help get things going he
enlisted the help of the MERSEYSIDE and LONDON Meet Organiser
ROVER-25X (AKA - CHARLZY) to start the Meets afresh and have a
general re-branding to give us our own identity and logo just like the
MERSEYSIDE and LONDON Meets, we also now have a facebook
Group so we can all keep up to date with all the Meet dates and any
other events that are organised such as Track Days, DYNO/Rolling
Road Days and Runs.

ABOUT THE MEET

We are still searching for a Primary Meet location, this may take a
few months and the Meet being held in a different location for a
while but the hope is to have a perminant Meet location just like
the MERSEYSIDE MEET's primary locaton, The GAME BIRD.

This month we are having the Meet at NAVIGATION WAY ,TEES BARRAGE
as this thought to more picturesque for meeting photos
link is below in thread

The general plan for the Meets is to arrive at the designated
location for the time listed on this topic which is early in the
afternoon so that we can make a day of it and use the available daylight.

The Meet Rep will try to arrive first and find the most empty spaces
so we can all park together and weather permiting have a good chin
wag and chat about each others cars and take some pics, we usually
stay outside to greet anyone who has yet to arrive and we will not be hard to find all parked together, plus the Meet Rep owns a skoda octavia (08)(WILL BE BACK WITH AN MG-ROVER ONE DAY) so keep an eye out for it.

We shall always have the Meets at a Pub Resturants or some where near so that we can
all enjoy the food and plus if the Weather takes a turn for the worst
or if its the Winter Months there is always somewhere warm to sit,
plus the fact that we have access to Toilet facillities helps.

These Meets are Family Friendly and we make Spouses and
Girlfriends very welcome, we will do our best to cater for Members
with Children and try to make sure all the Locations have Baby
changing facilities.

There are quite a few .org Members in the TEESSIDE and surrounding
areas but if you know any other Members on .org who are unaware
of the Meet or if you have Friends or Family who own an MG-ROVER
then get them down to enjoy the company of like minded owners.

We have adopted the basic rules for the New Meet that are used by
the MERSEYSIDE and LONDON Meets this is to make sure we represent
MG-ROVER.org and MG-ROVER - TEESSIDE in a good manner.

1. NO ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOR

If there had been any updates in the last 5 weeks as to whether this was actually going ahead, and that there were confirmed numbers, I might have ventured down.

However, it's a long way to go down for what could be a 2 or 3 car meet.

I will be going to the Retro meet at Ryhope Pumping Station in Sunderland instead.

Dalton Park anyone??

The meet took place and there were 4 cars there 2 rovers (me and pucc) and then 2 others Sav and another lad turned up both in non British cars.

I think the Teesside meet is dead and buried for the rest of the year now as it was cold and wet down by the barrage.

My take on the dalton park idea is that we had 2 people cancel the morning of the meet so that took us to 4 people turning up and if this happens when and if the dalton park meet happens then its not worth the 40miles worth of fuel to get there and back.

In my defence regarding this last meet I turned up at the last minute as I had the kids and I was due at the hospital to see my new niece. I do agree thorough that a new place is needed and dalton park would be better but the point I'm trying to make is that we need more solid numbers to confirm. I know things turn up but if there were more there it wouldn't feel like a waste of turning up.

Here's another idea what about a meet every 2 months instead if every month?

I totally agree its the numbers that either make it worthwhile or not and yes a change of location wouldnt hurt. We need a location that is more central so everyone covers a similar distance as both parties wanting to organise sumit wants it closer to them.... which is understandable.

Don't knock them on the head just yet, still got November to do, get the topic posted up and have done, get it back as it was at a Pub Resturant so you can dive in out the cold. :broon:

The weather doesn't put people off as we hat our best attendance of the year for the October Merseyside Meet.

That's the thing it is still at the barrage which is where the pub is just at a better location that isn't in a carpark having cars going through it but also it's got a better view compared to the one up in the top carpark.

It would'nt make any difference if it was 30 degrees sunny as foooooook, at a central location near a free pub with free all you can eat scran all day long..

The fact of the matter is, there is not enough interest in the Teesside meet. From my memory i can remember 2 or 3 decent meets and thats it, the rest have all been very poor.. It's the same old same old every time.

I think i might turn to the dark side toooo

Get me self a bike!!!
