Hi Folks !

Just thought I would post up some pics of the work that was done on the
400X, lots of crappy metal was cut out, underseal was taken back and
smoked the unit out then a shed load of welding by zr chris, that boy has
some skills. :D

The Rust holes, no idea why these are so bad, the car was only on the road for
about 6 months before I got it back on the road after being sat for 4 months,
theres no way the last MOT it had was a valid one with all the rust and brake
problems it had.

Some of what we cut out. :(

Heres the N/S Jacking Point.

Welding surfaces cleaned up and the inside of the cavity sprayed with zinc spray.

Nice bit of welding concidering it was a bargain basement MIG and 2mm steel lol.

Solid as a rock !

The back box needed some attention too as 1234dist 'broke' it. :scared:

Image

I'm hoping 1234dist or zr chris took some pics after we undersealed the patches as
I forgot, we did zinc spray the areas before indersealing. :)

It was all worth it though, the car passed its MOT after some additional work
being done on my behalf by the Garage, this is what has been replaced on the
car since I picked it up for £500.

Pair of mint second hand front caplipers: £20
Set of front Pads and Disks: £34
Pair of rear Cylinders and Shoes: £36
All new main brake lines: £22
Brake Fluid: £12
Pair of Anti-Roll Bar Links: £15
Oil and Filter: £25
Pair of CV Boots: £8
Pair of ABS Rings: £6

Spray Underseal: £6

Spray Zinc: Free
Glow Plugs: Free
2mm Patch Plate: Free
Welding: Free

I had to pay the MOT Garage to fit the CV boots and ABS rings as we
didn't have a hub puller at hand, the N/S was on its way so that had
to be replaced, including the MOT and VAT it was £230.

TOTAL: £414

Most parts we replaced are perishable so not too botherd about that,
it could have been a lot worse if the likes of 1234dist, zr chris and
mtechstevo were not on hand to help me out, I still have a Cam-belt
and Fuel Pump belt to fit, plus all my Dark Ice Designs bits, still think
the car was a bit of a bargain when you concider it had 92k on the
clock and the engine runs sweet with no smoke.

On the subject of the engine, anyone have any ideas why the fuel
pump makes this noise, it has done since I got it when you put the
dash lights on. :|

Always happy to help....you provided the bbq the first time and all the brew tackle the second.

The ramp will always be free when you need it...just need to move the fleet out of the way.

If we need to get down again we should make it for about 9 or 10 and lend you a hand moving the fleet out and back in again.

Oh and you got a table for the welder lol.

Fuel pump noise is normal. If it doesn't make that noise then you have to worry!

I'd have to question whether that car has a genuine 90 odd thousand miles on it though. Either that or it has been parked in the sea at some point.

Genuine buddy, did a text check and my MOT tester kindly checked for me when I got him to print out the previous MOT cert so I could tax it.
