Anyone up for a fix it day in Tamworth early may?
The TF (in my sig photo below) has been sitting for a while now since the cam spun out and destroyed the head.

It sat for quite a while after that, 2 heads later (first one was awful) it ran again.
I was starting it frequently to keep it running.

Fast forward a year or so and I had it trailered to where it is now, again I started it every now and again but during the past 3 or 4 months, life has got in the way.

It's sitting there in a sorry state, it needs some paintwork where some ar5e keyed it, the brakes are going to be seized solid, I dare say some bushes will need changing too and an oil and filter/coolant change.

But. The biggest problem is, I tried to start it the other day and all it does it spins. Last time it was started it fired right up, very tappety but it started and ran. It had been tappety since the head was changed.

I've lost motivation to fix it, I rarely get much time so by the time I've done one job another needs doing. If I can get 1 or 2 people to help me with what needs doing I think it could finally get sorted.

It could be as simple as a starter motor to get it running, although I have considered dropping another lump in there to have done with it. Shame because the car has only done 40k since new. It's the 1.6 MEMS 3 k series that's in there.

I need to get it done soon, the mrs has been diagnosed with an illness so our living standards is costing a fortune, she can't work anymore due to this illness and also that we have a 2 year old, we also need to move to a different house and the only way to have a chance of doing this is to get this car sorted so it can go to the paint shop and get sold. Will be a sad day but family comes first!

I have a week off work at the end of April/beginning of may so it would be an ideal time to try to get something done, is anyone local up for spending the day helping me out with it?

Cheers for reading
Dan

Your not exactly local
Was going to do a bit on it the other day but it rained all day and I've been busy since. That's the way it goes. Every intention to do it but finding the time to actually do it is difficult.

When you say it spins but won't start,do you mean the engine turns but won't fire? If so it's not the starter motor as that is turning the engine. Which leaves Fuel or spark. Unleaded does go off so if the fuel is old and there is fuel pressure at the inlet manifold it might be worth puting some fresh in. You could try jury rigging a can and hose to gravity feed the manifold if the spark is ok just to see if it will run.

No, as in the starter makes a noise but doesn't turn the engine. Not a normal starter motor noise either. Going to whip it off and connect it straight to a battery to see what it's doing.

Got it started yesterday, needs the tappets changing though, very very noisy and I have a set of good tappets from the other head. Just need to find time to pull the cambelt off to do it now!

Some Pektron issues to sort out too, just what I don't need!
