You dont have much luck do you Greg.
Your enthusiasm is scary tho!

And thats a result, £20? Ill have to enter more concours comeptitions, new the car was good for something.

First off of the day.....
I think there is a clue to Dans cars effectivness here, back end comes a long way round and it still comes back into line. Mine used to do that, but its to stiff at the rear now and just goes right round :(

jase is obviously better than me, but he got in to trying too hard mode, coupled with the fact i bribed the timing folks, and I was very lucky, and my tyres were more suited to the track etc. etc.

Dan, I just went as quick as i could! I could of only gone a couple of tenths quicker with a perfect lap.
And being honest I was pretty much on the best tyres - i didnt run them for health reasons :), the wets the orange racer was on might of been slightly better (even in the dry given the short lap and cool temps), but really Scott and myself had a big advantage over you tyre wise for the last 2 runs atleast.

The only real excuse is my car is more track than sprint now (the same for the racers tbf) but I wouldnt of taken it if I didnt think it could still win that sort of thing... So well done

But yeh, got you back with that cap

What a brilliant day, awesome fun great cars and people. Also really pleased with the v6, the light front and silky smooth power made for some well balanced 4 wheel slides

Was great event good to see so many cars running.
Bubbles were great on the tight twisty track looked much more nimbler than the coupes.
Welldone to dan and jase,
I was going quite well in the damp strangely I was just as fast inthe damp with passenger!
I just couldn't get a good lap when it dried.
Think was mostly my driving to be honest, but couldn't get the r888's warm enough and I kept cocking up the middle bit -then car was lagging too much and losing too much time as I was running too low boost 9psi on twisty bit.
Car was strong once I upped the boost on the main straight but was the twistys that make the differance.

Scott

sh*t greg sorry to see that.

I think mines also bit worse for wear

I started it up yesterday morning and oil light took 45 secs to go off
Then it flew up to 50 at tickover, not sure if my oil pumps on its way out or what... still sounds fine though and after the initial start oil light/pressure comes straight up...so no apparent damage

So did I
( :x - im hiding it well!)

Scott, you beat me to all the excuses
The track did suit the swb, softer setup bubbles tho. If we met on more neutral ground id be more concerned, everything played to us as curborough. At say donny I think the boot would be on the other foot.
And we've yet to see all the times.

Top marks for the V6 coupe vvcmini. Thats a cool car.

Cheers dude. When I was spectating dans cars rear end looked more planted than yours and he was much more quicker of the slow corners. Thing you need a smaller turbo or a v6 :P

Haha - relax homeboy  this is my point. You guys as in you and Jase drove down and did really well. Would I be right in saying that there is still some scope left for improvement on yours?

i.e you could add in a complete full weld in cage, seam weld the shell and some fibre glass panels etc... this would make them more comparable to the tomcat cup cars specification.

Considering how well the bubbles did, I reckon you could still go faster with the above and set a faster time  8)

I was only pulling your leg ;)

Lexan glass is on site, templates are made, but its a winter job.

I have tried repeatedly for someone to sell me a front half cage, but no one wants to add to existing stuff, so its pipe bender time. I will be adding more bracing, but I probably wont go down the front, its pretty stiff as it is.

Looked at seam welding, and a few of the racer boys are claiming a second a lap faster, lots of cars being reshelled in to road cars also and not done the welding and the drivers have no complaints ( none rover related, mainly pug racing ) so for the amount of work, I wont bother, its a weeks labour for a shell that may end up on its roof at some stage. I would like to spent the time and money on stuff that can be moved to other shells.

Other mods though yeah ! , loads of stuff is outstanding. I still have 22lb nitrous system, metahnol injection, uprated gearbox, paddle clutch, lightened flywheel , the DTA still needs mapping properly, I have some 16 inch lightweight wheels, and I have proper clio cup racing slicks so next year it should be exciting.

Oh, and another engine...

Was nice too see some old Tomcats and some old faces too!

Hope to see some of you again after hols in November for a trackday.

Congrats to Dan, I had a feeling you or Jase would crack it anyway.

I know the ZR190's are lighter with the K engine but they seem to handle a lot better than a Tomcat around the twisty bits. I think a ZR Turbo to good Track spec would be an awesome car.

Dan what size are the Clio Cup slicks, 17's?

Dave

Yes mate, but taller and wider than the usual 205/40 but i run 45's at the moment anyway. Might have to get a bit choppy on the arches but I have arch extensions for this reason :)

And yes, knock the dust off that car and get out will ya ! I am only looking at one more day this year I think.
