I was a bit down in the dumps about this event coming up, flying solo and getting up and travelling for over an hour in the pitch black on a cold morning was not something to look forward to.

However, its taught me a few things.

Continental contisport contact 3's last forever, not an exaggeration, they are like gearbox oil, fit for life.

How to pack a tool kit, managed to get all my sh1t organised properly and cut back on spares to fit in the car/pits, usually I get a friend to follow with a tow car if needed.

How to treat the wet ( with respect ), luckily I didn't lose it once, which I am shocked at. My first three outings were stopped by much more experienced people than me.

My faith in humanity is restored after the folks in garage 25 offered me a dry place to store my tools, looked after them for me and offered me a coffee !

For me it was a really technical day, I am not one for getting lines and lap times perfect, but with jase on board with timing gear and a variation of track conditions and boost settings I had a really good time "testing" certain things.

I also learned just how slippy oil or petrol is on track, its worse than sheet ice ! totally caught me out how dangerous it is.

The bonus to the day to finish it off nicely for me was it started getting dry towards the last couple of sessions, which meant I could rag the crap out of the car again rather than puppy it round, it felt good hammering it.

Two hairy moments where I nearly took a 50k CSL out ( fell asleep on a cool down lap ) and trying to hug a corner tight to let a subaru race car past on the exit turned in to both of us drifting through the corner on to the straight, subuaru seemed to approve though.

Think its the last day from me this year though as the diff popped 4 miles from home, leaving me with a load of metal filings and oil everywhere.

Car has had enough too, the rear pads are trashed, rear tyres are dead, obviously the shaft and gearbox are destroyed and a rear wheel bearing is giving it large.

Time for the garage, some stickier tyres, a touch more power and some more safety ready for next year.

BIG thanks to jase for taking a day off work and rocking up, really helped with driving and made the day more enjoyable.

I've followed few of these track day reports and they're a great read. :)

I would like come along to one of these events next year when the T16 is fitted in the BRM. If you all do another Oulton Park visit that would be even better as it's only a few miles down the road from me.

Oulton tends to get avoided in peak season mind mate, it can be £250+ where tracks slightly further afield can be had for £100....

If any of us go itll be posted on here so keep an eye out :)
I go to anglesey as often as possible which isnt to bad a drive for us.

Glad you managed to get home tho Dan. I forgot about the incident with the scooby, that was pretty funny nearly crashing letting someone past!
But that, the oil and I noticed you got some bad understeer a couple of times is why im not keen on the wet. Its consistant and you always get a warning in the dry, in the wet it just goes randomly. Plus some other front drivers are faster in the wet than us
The laptiming software is better then i expected - you can download the windows version and overlay laps and so on so its pretty good.

Ill send it all over to you as its quite interesting. Due to the damp-drying track its not a holy grail, but interesting nonetheless

Laptimes
I think you were running around 2.12 last time we went in the complete dry.

You mentioned laptiming so thought id get a 10hz rx and give it a spin at oulton. Worked really well after i took the rx out of my arse (literally  )

Im hoping there are more anglersee dates next year, there was only 2 or 3 last which was a bummer.

your to keen Greg.

I cant promise anything over the next couple of months as i book last minute based on weather. Angelsy wont be snowed off but it can be pretty nasty wind/rain.
Yesterday reminded me how winter days can suck - it was forcast dry all day (which was why i planned to go) yet the track only became dryish in the last 30mins. Plus it was red flag city

And thats not mentioning the cold. Its no fun if you have to fix a car when its 1c
Id wait till at least march before you come down this far Greg

In short, im a lion o
