well ive given up my search on a 620 ti and ended up buying a silver rover 45 tdi on 03 plate that is very very tidy but has a few gremlins.

1) how noisey is the l series as this thing sounds like a ford transit   im assuming this is pump timing solenoid
2) she isnt hitting anywhere near peak boost at 3.5k im seeing 11.7psi but at 1800rpm as low as 4 is this weak acuator or screwed maf?
fuel economy seems fine, no smoke on start up or when running just seems low on power and next to noticeable pull from turbo scanned for fault codes and got nothing all clear, unplugged maf made no difference apart from 4k rev limit

another issue is it strugles like hell to accelerate up a hill (not good seeing as I have to go up hill every morning to join a motorway) other than that it seems fine.

1. Probably. Look at what the timing advance is on idle with a warm engine to see if is miles away from normal. If it is then timing solenoid is a likely suspect.
2. Leaking boost pipes are common. Check these first (after fixing the timing), before tweaking it back (also running with no maf should give low rev power back to normal levels - but 4k rev limit). Also check the wire to number 1 injector too as chafing is common.

gave her a good service and cleaned all sensors and checked wiring.

leak back pipes where shot so they have all been replaced, inlet plenum was full of crusty soot so thats all been cleaned out.

egr removed as was again coked up and not closing perm open.

thats improved it a little suspect the timing is out as getting -2 at idle isnt it supposed to be +2 will check pump timing and adjust this weekend as going to change belts and tensioner anyway

Get Kris/Dakta to sort you out a maffless remap after fitting some Di injectors. Then you really will be flying and you'll not have to worry about the MAF sensor again.
