Hello

First post on here. Hoping you can help!

Had both belts changed on my ZS a few months ago. The garage made a complete hash of the job - car sounded awful and had no ooomph. Got money back and took it to another garage who refitted the fuel pump belt. I got 1000-ish miles out of it where it ran really well. Then, the car started to make a bassy-sounding noise again - a little like when the timing was out but nowhere near as bad. Power seems a little down, but nothing major. Noise only seems noticeable up to 2000-ish rpm. Since had turbo and intercooler hoses, and flexi-pipe and centre pipes on the exhaust, all of which had holes, replaced, but still sounding the same. Any ideas? It's getting a little expensive taking it to garages who don't really know these engines well enough and who are consequently just guessing - at my expense!

Thanks
Gavin

Where are you?

I (or others) may be able to suggest someone who knows their stuff in your area.

Does it sounds like an old transit on a frosty morning? That is a harsh noise rather than a bassey one though.

Whereabouts in N Wales. I'm originally from near Wrexham but don't get over that way much very often.

Nah, not really. You're thinking the solenoid, yeah? Listened to those on YouTube and, as you say, it's a harsher, looser sound than this.

I'm in Denbigh, about 40 minutes from Wrexham.
