I know this is a zs forum but anyway lol

2005 zr started to act up today.

When driving along at a constant speed you can feel a slight pull hesistation, sometimes worse than others, slow down at a junction kind of kangaroos when going threw the gears again.

Anyone any ideas?
Unplugged the maf and it was no better also unplugged the egr still no better.

So just drove to work.
Car idles ok.
Revs tinted line ok.
When driving at a constant speed it's as if someone is constantly dabbing the brakes.

sounds very EGR valve, this operates at steady throttle / cruising but like you say you've tried that.

Any fault codes stored? or do you have / know anyone with a code reader / live data phone app+dongle? being a facelift car its fully obd2 so you'll be able to see live data - ie what the throttle position sensor is doing etc

it could be early signs of the TPS wiring chaffin where it runs under/behind the radiator. Also check the wiring to Injector 1 (the tallest one) isnt chaffed

Changed injector 1 for a known good one. No better.
Codes am getting are: p1222 & p0216.

The dodgey wire under the rad was replaced a few months back as the car wouldn't Rev at all.
Unplugged the egr control unit no better.
Unplugged the Maf no better.

Stumped :(

Timing solenoid failure is likely I'm afraid. Does it sometimes sound like a Tractor? (or more tractor-like than usual)?

Have a read here:

Solenoid failure is common so you may be better getting a new one, but you can swap them from pump to pump if you want.

Also before doing this it is worth checking that the cambelts are tight and that the timing of them is correct. It is very common for people to get it wrong.

I've also has a loose fuel pump cambelt cause an unsteady idle too.

I assume the speedo is working correctly?
