Ok so I noticed a few problems.

Firstly, my 420d could run at max RPM on full boost without fuel cutting or any issues. My 420 SLDi (iXLD) doesn't like any amount of wastegate pressure reduction. The moment it loses a bit of pressure to the wastegate and gets to 19psi boost, the fuel just cuts out. Tonight, I revved up to 4.5k, it wasn't even on full boost and it stalled. I then noticed fuel leaking from injector #1 (Or whichever the far right one is) and it took me a few minutes to start it back up. I don't have a fuel prime pump on this engine like I did on the 420d (Squeezy thing on fuel line).

This doesn't seem right to me. I have a huge K&N air filter on it. I plan to fit an AFR at some point when I have the money. Not a cheap chinky one either, a proper wide-band AFR, because I'm pretty sure at some point it's not getting enough fuel, which baffles me as I thought with electronic injection the ECU would plant more fuel in to balance out the larger quantity of air going into the engine.

I seemed to have fixed the issue for now. I swapped over the MAF sensor and replacing the short fuel tubes on the injectors. It was a cracked tube that was leaking, and I think the MAF sensor was on it's way out. I'm still going to replace the injector seals though just for peace of mind.

Is it remapped? The mafs cause all sorts of issues, beat to have replaced the little fuel lines linking the injectors. I have a L series with a mafless map and it's been brill no probs whatsoever

No it's not mapped. It's a 400 so having a remap requires dismantling the ECU and replacing the chip. I'm upgrading to a 45 turbo once my downpipe arrives in the post. I'm looking at upgrading to a GT1752 some time this year though if I can get a custom downpipe made for it. I'm also buying the Synergy 4 RonBox as well so hopefully some decent power gains soon.

Sounds like classic fuel starvation to me.

Change the fuel filter and check the priming bulb isn't getting sucked flat.

This model didn't actually have a priming bulb so I replaced it with the one from my old Rover. I'll check the fuel filter also and see if that helps.

They all had a priming bulb originally I believe. Sounds like someone removed it to try and cure the problem previously perhaps?

New filter didn't work either. Had to turn boost controller valve right down again. I'm getting a Synergy box at some point anyway to help increase fuelling so that will probably fix the problem.

No it will likely make it worse if it is fuel starvation. If it coughs and splutters and generally behaves like it has run out of fuel then it is fuel starvation.

Boost cut is something else. If its a Di it'll cut the power if it see over 19psi for 1 second or longer. The power reduction is not total, but clearly noticable. Once boost is back under control it'll gradually ramp up the fuelling again.

Installed the Synergy 4 but still have to keep boost right down. The Synergy actually prevents fuel cutting, and at one point I hit 25psi lol. Even with the boost right down it's still getting 19psi with the Synergy box. It's awesome. £100 well spent.
