Hi,
We have a "spare" T16 gas flowed head coming in to us next week.
We are offering it on an outright sale basis for £650 inc delivery.

I'm interested Grant.

Do you have a before and after flow curve for inlet and exhaust?

Thanks,
Rob

Don't have figures for this particular head.

Same head as I've had done for lots of customers over the last 2 years though basically.

Do you have figures for any of those heads?

I do somewhere yes, but don't know where.
We have just relocated and all my tech info is one of the boxes I've not yet unpacked.
I will search for it, but I suspect the head will be sold before I find it!

Well, if you wanna sell it to me, or anyone else who thinks for themselves when it comes to tuning, it's most likely you're going to need to put the flow curves up from before and after.

No probs.
There's usually a long wait on these and we sell them without people asking for figures.
So if it sells before I find the info, so be it.

**edit**
Just to add that one well known supplier of heads / machine shop who most people on here will know of gave me figures once which I went and had checked out.
Turns out the figures they gave were for a T16 head they "once did" for another customer. They don't flow bench any of their heads anymore!!!
Figures can so easily be fudged, which is why we don't generally quote any.

Not at this pricepoint!
Valves and valve work add a substantial amount of cost!

How would you know for sure the paperwork your getting with supposed specs relates to your head, unless perhaps your there to oversee as things are happening. I really wish I had the tools and skills to do certain jobs myself. Anything can be made up and like Grant says it could even be details given that relate to a piece of work carried out a long time ago for a similar item.

I'm sure the details I rec'd are purely reprints from a previous job and they are vague at that!

Exactly David.
Any company who does the flowing is bound to have the skills available to "fudge" the figures.
And they would definitely want them looking better wouldn't they? :crash:

Watch them do it? Other than that you have to trust them. Flowbenching is extra hassle to do, so you can likely expect an extra charge if it has been done.

Well if it's CNC machined you can pretty much guarantee the same dimensions each time, so flowing once would suffice.

Obviously a hand-job is going to be different each time, and likely port-to-port and you very rarely get a full break-down of each cylinder's flow-data. However an experienced porter who does it all day long, everyday will get them pretty much spot on. I'm thinking the like's of DVA, etc....(who will hopefully be along to comment).

This is not a dig at Grant, but if I was spending £600 plus on a component, I'd want to be able to quantify the improvements, and I think this type of price does warrant an extra 60mins at the start and end of the job to get the before/after flow-data.

I'm not going to air dirty laundry, but let's just say they have cost me a LOT of money. Their work is average at best.
